Tuned into Steamfair FM at midnight, listened to it for an hour.
I love to hear it coming on air.
Tuned in at the moment. A lot of music being played with a few announcements.
Is anyone else from this forum tuned in and listening?

We have been listening on and off today. Set the car radio up so we can listen to it via the phone on the way down, as we are just about to hit the sack tonight, ready to set off down there tomorrow morning...

Absolutely! I can't stand music radio BUT Steam Fair FM is superb!! It's on at home 12+ hours a day. Makes up a little bit for not being able to have my annual 5 day holiday down there since date shift. Getting down there for the day on Thursday. Can't wait!!

Still tuned in to steamfair FM. I like the show reports.
Westons, you are very lucky to have got to GDSF, for one day at least.

Still tuned in. Waiting for Martin Oliver's interview coming on air, should be good.
I am also looking forward to tuning in to the pirate gold broadcast, tomorrow evening at 10.30pm.

Well that is it over for another year, no more radio to listen to.
Showground reports were good and varied, although, of the 29 fair organs that were on site, I never heard a single one being played over the radio or subject of an interview.
I enjoyed listening to Martin Oliver's interview, always interesting what he has to say.
Pirate Gold and the history of pirate radio was interesting to listen to.
For some reason, I think that there was more music being played this year, than in previous years.
I do wish that Patrick Heeley's final moments of the Steam Fair FM broadcast and closedown, were less formal, melancholy and depressive. Just my thoughts.

Well Shedman I have popped on here to comment and see that your views echo mine. Also felt that there was a shortage of the hard edged stuff this year. Heard the Stones only once and don't recall the Yardbirds at all. Only Wurzel tune that I heard was the new one. Why not play 'When The Common Market Comes To Stanton Drew'....arguably quite topical and always very amusing!! The traffic reports were more relevant this year. In the past have found them useless and bland....when stuck in a huge queue! The A354 was closed on my journey down and they covered that. All in all a very professionally run enterprise. Yes I am missing it too! The good news emanating from Healey's melancholy closing remarks is that SteamFairFM is secured for 2018.

I have just found this series of posts and am heartened that Mebos still frequent this forum. I confess I listened to very little Steamfair FM when I was there - in the morning I was in the Play Pen, afternoons were spent in the show with Maggie and evenings either were in the RAT or visiting one or another diesel heavy haulage member. The only mebos I actually spoke to this year were Lui (who works on the timber section in the Play Pen) HenHouse (for obvious reasons) Herbert Austin (working on the roads) Steamy Joe in the RAT, and Andi (who was over from Florida) although I did spy a LazyFerret in the distance.
Shedman is it likely that you will make it back to GDSF or is the journey getting too much of a PITA? Cheers all

Hello Eric,
I hope you had a great time at GDSF with the Scammell, Morag.
I have seen some footage of you on youtube, driving around the playpen.
You certainly got good warm weather this year.
As to us returning to GDSF.
Father and I will definitely be back at Dorset next year for the 50th GDSF.
We had intended going this year, making our own way there, but ran short of money and a couple of unexpected things came up too, which hampered our plans.
We both do miss being at GDSF and especially meeting you and all our friends from over the years.
Believe me Eric, we will be back.
