If you take a look on Google maps, for Tarrant Hinton, you will see the GDSF show site.
The current Google maps view is showing the GDSF show site, some time shortly after the 2016 GDSF.
The Pickfords heavy haulage trailer can be seen parked on the roadway at the top of the site, near the WW1 trenches.

What do you think the weirdly cut bit of grass, with a pathway running to the corner, in the fairground area, near where the big wheel would be, is? here it is!

I am not sure what that would be.
Something to do with farming work, following the steam fair?

Fascinating to scroll down and see the trench area from above!

I always marvel at how big it looks when you are there, then how small it looks once everything has gone... I have a farmer friend, and I was saying that it was 600 acres, to which he replied, you do know that is only about 1 square mile.. talk about take the wind out of my sale.

The GDSF does cover a lot of land.
600 acres, one square mile or whatever, it covers a lot of area.
I can never forget my first sight of the GDSF show field, from the A354. It seemed to go on and on and on!
I agree with you, everything laid out on the fields makes it appear a lot bigger too, I think it has the effect of drawing your eyes further into the distance.
I have heard that they hope to have 500 engines there next year, I hope they can fit them all in!
