Now that the 2018 GDSF has been and gone, I wonder if the WW1 trench area will be removed?
Has anyone heard any more about it?

For me it has been by far the highlight of the last 4 shows for so many reasons. Unfortunately I did hear from more than one 'informed' source that they will be filled in. I haven't dwelt upon the matter as prefer to believe that it won't happen!! The replica Howitzer going off to Swindon Museum a few days ago didn't fill me with confidence!

Westons1, thanks for the update.
The trench area was excellent. It must have taken a long time to plan and construct. I too, do not want to believe that it will be taken away.
The replica Howitzer, I wonder will it return to GDSF, as a load behind the gun tractor or road loco?
I hope that the McLaren "Gigantic" will retain its WW1 livery and canopy, it looks so impressive.

I see in the latest copy of Vintage Spirit, the replica Howitzer was on display at Swindon steam museum, for three days only. The Vintage Spirit article, which is very interesting, mentioned that the Howitzer was borrowed from the GDSF. I assume that the Howitzer belongs to the GDSF, like the trailers used in the playpen.
