Got back home from GDSF last night, Sunday.
Had a great time at GDSF this year, the best ever, got to see nearly the whole show field.
Father and I met the following MEBOS:
Lui.
Herbert Austin.
Eric and his wife.
Pasty Muncher.
The weather was excellent as were the ground conditions. The new roads and plentiful coverage of wood chippings on the ground were a great advantage.
Stayed on site until 10.30 pm, Friday night. Supposed to leave at 9.30 pm but the coach driver allowed us all to stay on site for an extra hour, as the ground conditions and site access were good.
I hope you all had as good a time as we did!

Indeed we had a great time too. Tues to Sun. Absolutely agree about the roads and chippings.

Hi Shedman it was good to meet up with you and Silver even if only 10 minutes! I am glad you had an extra hour on Friday and hope you used it wisely! Maggie and I were in the RAT watching Busker. On Saturday we went to the Oktoberfest stage to see the Elvis show which was really very good indeed. Cheers

We met with Lui and Herbert and Steamy Joe (who was on the original board) and of course Henhouse but did not meet up with Patsy, where did you see him? I also saw Lazy Ferret but although I said "Hello Ferrets" I am not sure he took in who I was. Cheers

Eric, it was great to meet you again, a long time since 2011! Glad that you and Mrs Eric had a good time.
We met Pasty at Saunder's stage show on the Saturday evening. Had an enjoyable conversation with him.

Silver here. We were pleased to see you again Eric. We thought this years show was the best ever. I like the new layout of many of the exhibits and catering outlets. Martin Oliver is to be commended for his work. The showground seemed to have a continental feel about it. I very much enjoyed the WW1 display, it was highly authentic in every detail.
I told people that I had been killed in battle there, first time around! They believed me!!!!! Ha! Ha!

Cheers It was a great show, the weather was perfect, and well done to all those who predicted it so accurately. Sorry Eric, my hearing is not as good as it used to be, which is also coupled with the problem that by about day 3 or 4, we have started to shut out all the comments on Ferrets, as some people do like to spend a lot of time telling us how horrible they are. I did wonder if I saw you on the Friday, up near the food outlet at the top of the playpen, but you seemed to be very engrossed in a conversation with someone, so I did not want to interrupt you. We only knowingly saw Squirrel this year. We did not get down to the fair most evenings though, as it was such a long walk from the public camping back to the fair.

Eric, I did hear you were about, but didn't meet up with you or Maggie. Must bite your ear some other time ;-) Saw Shedman & Silver by the stage, Herbert Austin at a burger van, Lui at the Cider Bar, possibly the locations identify where I spent the vast majority of my time . . . . . . . .

Ferrets, saw you and Mrs Ferrets and baby ferret up towards auto-jumble on Tuesday, you were walking up hill and I was going down and clocked only two people with a small skinny dog which I realised was a ferret as I passed, so simply said "Hello Ferrets", which will explain the "Who the hell are you" look I got in return! Pasty, I heard a rumour you were on site but that's as far as i got. Miles, Maggie and I spent Saturday watching the show on the Elvis impersonator stage. Shall I look for you on Saunders' next year? Shedman/Silver I will try to pass Silver's kind words on to Martin Oliver, he will greatly appreciate getting a well deserved compliment rather than the usual brickbats. (What is a brickbat anyway?)

Well you have me puzzled now! Which is the Elvis impersonator stage? Strange but great show this year! Didn't seem to be so many folk around but the tent area was rammed! Suppose that with ankle biters going back to school that reduces foot fall. Several stall holders said that takings were badly down on 2014!! Another moaned about changes being brought in...."they know that they have f**** up". Sad for me that Barry of Snakecatcher was not there with his thatched truck by Showman's Lineup. Someone did say that he was exhibiting, (non cider!), at the show. (A relative bought me a 'traction engine print' with no knowledge! I was blown away as it is is a distorted but tasteful painting of Showman's Lineup with Barry's truck in the foreground!). Regardless, a great show for me and I will be on parade same time in 2016 Tues to Sun. The expanded WW1 exhibit was stunning. Great folk from the WFA too.

The stage with the Elvis Impersonator was Atkinson's stage, the Scarborough Fair Collection.
Yes Eric, I will more than likely be found around the stages, if you can find Burrell Majestic I shouldn't be far away.
The few traders I spoke to were pleased with the changes to the arrangements, suspect those that were abiding by the rules are pleased, those that were playing the system are the one's complaining!
Would imagine the school holidays is always going to affect footfall / income.

Over the weekend, I was at another show. I met some folk who we had travelled to GDSF with, they were still taking about how enjoyable GDSF was this year.
Father and I are looking forward GDSF to next year.
